When I started searching for where to stay in Ho Tram, most of the results I found were large beachfront resorts and Ho Tram hotels…
For a short holiday, those would have been fine. But for six days, I wanted something quieter: more outdoor space, easy transportation, reliable Wi-Fi and enough everyday convenience to feel comfortable without staying inside a resort the entire time.
That is how I ended up at Sala Ho Tram Homestay & Villa.
After six days, I was glad I made that choice.
1. Between Phuoc Buu Forest and Ho Tram Beach
Sala sits directly on the main ĐT998 road, facing the green landscape of Binh Chau–Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve and about 1.6 km from Ho Tram Beach.
It is not a beachfront property.
If your priority is stepping directly from your room onto the sand, a beachfront resort may suit you better. For me, the short ride to the beach was a fair trade for a quieter garden environment.
Being on the main road also made transportation simple. Taxi and Grab pickups could come directly to the entrance.
Guests can use bicycles for free, and this became one of the small things I enjoyed most.
Some mornings I stayed in the garden with a Vietnamese coffee. On others, I cycled along the quieter roads near the forest before heading toward the beach.

2. Easy Access to Ho Tram Casino, The Bluffs & Meliá
Sala worked well as a base for visiting the better-known places around Ho Tram.
The Grand Ho Tram, Ho Tram Casino and The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram golf course are within easy driving distance. Meliá Ho Tram Beach Resort is also nearby.
During my stay, I sometimes went to the larger resorts for dining, entertainment or the casino and then returned to Sala afterward.
I preferred that combination.
I could enjoy the big resorts whenever I wanted, but at the end of the day I returned to a quieter place surrounded by trees rather than staying inside the same resort for six days.
For me, that freedom was one of the advantages of choosing a Ho Tram homestay instead of a large resort.
3. The Garden Became Part of My Daily Routine
Before arriving, I assumed a homestay would mostly be about the room.
At Sala, I spent much more time outside than expected.
The property has a spacious tropical garden with trees, flowers, a fish pond and several outdoor seating areas. With the nature reserve directly opposite, the whole setting feels noticeably greener and calmer than a conventional hotel.
There are also:
- Billiards
- Foosball
- Air hockey
- Karaoke
- A children’s swimming pool
- Outdoor areas for reading, relaxing or working
The pool is designed for children rather than adults, so travelers looking specifically for a large resort swimming pool should know this in advance.
For me, the garden mattered much more.
It became a comfortable place to work on my laptop, read or simply sit outside without feeling that I needed to go somewhere all the time.
The green atmosphere explains why Sala sometimes describes itself as a “Mini Da Lat in Ho Tram.”

4. Why Sala Makes More Sense for a Longer Stay
After several days, I began to understand why Sala seems particularly suited to a long stay or workation in Ho Tram.
There is reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of outdoor space, free bicycles and practical support when needed.
Phố Hoa Coffee & Restaurant is also located within the property, so breakfast, Vietnamese coffee, fresh juice and simple Vietnamese dishes are available without having to travel elsewhere.
For me, that was enough. It was convenient without becoming the focus of the stay.
The staff can communicate in English and Chinese and are happy to assist international guests with transportation, restaurants, attractions and other services around Ho Tram.
This was especially useful because local advice sometimes saved me more time than searching everything myself.

5. Something I Had Not Seen at Many Homestays
One detail I found unusual was that international travelers can request a live video call before booking.
Instead of relying only on photos, guests can ask to see the actual rooms and garden before making a reservation.
For someone arranging accommodation from overseas, I think that is genuinely useful.
During my six days there, I also met several international and longer-stay guests.
Some had already been there for quite a while, and a few told me they had returned to Sala more than once.
I heard a similar phrase from more than one person:
“It feels like my second home in Ho Tram.”
After several days, I understood what they meant.
Sala has many of the practical conveniences I would normally look for in a Ho Tram hotel, but the garden and slower atmosphere make it easier to develop your own daily routine.
6. Would I Stay Here Again?
Yes — although not because Sala tries to be a luxury beachfront resort.
It does not.
That is actually part of why I liked it.
I could spend the morning in the garden, cycle near the forest, go to Ho Tram Beach, visit The Grand or Meliá, have dinner somewhere else and then come back to a quieter place in the evening.
For a six-day trip, that suited me better than spending every day inside the same resort.
Sala gave me a comfortable balance between:
space, location, practical services, nature and value.
By the end of my stay, it felt less like another hotel booking and more like a comfortable base for exploring Ho Tram at my own pace.
And I finally understood why some longer-stay guests described it as their “second home in Ho Tram.”
